By Audrey Steen, English/Sec. Education Major / McAnulty Academic Internship
One of the main obstacles I have had to face through this Internship experience is how to time manage. Although this was one of the main things I was looking forward to in this internship, and still do, I am struggling with managing the workload outside of this academic and vocational experience.
In all of the work I do, I want to be honest and proud of what I have created. However, I often feel paralyzed when falling behind in a class or classes; the pressure of turning the assignment in, making it equitable, and creating authentic work becomes all-encompassing. This internship is challenging me to face this reoccurring time-management issue I have had throughout college. With being a student-athlete as well, it is especially important to have this skill handy and as I close out my last semester of academic course work before student teaching, I want to tackle this struggle I have had before the end of the semester.
Luckily, our supervisors are incredibly helpful in scaffolding our experience, and even when I feel like I am overwhelmed with work or my schedule, I feel I will be set up for success. The objectives created have been manageable to obtain thus far and my peers and are more than propagated to do well in this course. Facebook, which is my marketing assignment, is going well and the campaigns we have created seem to be increasing engagement which is the point of this marketing internship. I am happy and proud to be part of such a wonderful team regardless of my flaws and struggles. I am looking forward to getting back on track and creating something I can be proud of for the final portfolio due in December.
